Q: WTF is Cryptolopolis?

A: This website is dedicated to cryptocurrency and blockchain enthusiasts, newbies, and the merely curious.  Ideally, it will become a community of interest around all the fascinating things the cryptocurrency and blockchain are bringing and will bring us.

Q: How did you come up with the name Cryptolopolis?

A: I was searching for available domain names and it just kind of popped into my head.  Given the aspiration of creating an eventual online community, I thought it was appropriate (and the .com tld was available)

Q: What’s up with the P&L charts?

A: I’m documenting my journey into cryptocurrencies.  I’ve decided that I’m perfectly willing to share my success and failures as I dip my toes in the water of something that many believe has already been completely subsumed by large corporate interests.  I want to see–and document– if a hobbyist can still make money doing this, because the conventional wisdom right now says no, but I always have to learn everything the hard way.

Q: Are you giving financial advice?

A: Oh, hell no.  I’m merely documenting what I’m doing.  I’m not qualified to give anyone advice on much of anything, and certainly not financial advice.  I would suspect that time will show I’m setting an example of what not to do if you want to make money.

Q: Why are you doing this?

A: I need a hobby.  I tend to cycle through them every few years.  I get absolutely obsessed with something and throw myself at it for awhile until I become a bit of an expert at it, then I get bored and move on.  Cryptocurrency came along right as I was needing something new to obsess about.

Q: Why is there so little content on here?

A: The site hasn’t done a hard launch yet.  It’s just up and available while I work on it.  If you found your way here, great!  I hope you come back.  Hard launch will be soon and content should be evolving every day.
